# Fainting

Fainting, also known as syncope, is a temporary loss of consciousness caused by a decrease in blood flow to the brain. It is often triggered by factors such as dehydration, standing for long periods, or sudden changes in position.

## First Aid for Fainting

1. Lay the Person Down: Place the casualty on their back with their legs elevated to improve blood flow to the brain.
2. Check for Breathing: Ensure the person is breathing normally. If not, begin CPR.
3. Loosen Tight Clothing: Loosen any tight clothing around the neck and waist.
4. Monitor and Reassure: Keep the person lying down for at least 10 minutes after they regain consciousness and reassure them.
